The STEINWAERDER departed Cape of Good Hope on 17 August 1864 and arrived in Auckland on 14 October 1864

with Captain M E Erichsen in command.

Arrival of the “STEINWAERDER”, from The Cape of Good Hope.

 

The Hamburgh barque Steinwaerder, Capt Erickson, arrived in harbour yesterday afternoon, bringing 212 passengers from the Cape of Good Hope. She sailed on the 18th August, and had fine weather until making the coast of Australia; passed through Bass’s straits, and since then had fourteen days easterly weather. Made the Three Kings on Wednesday last, and had strong winds down coast.

 

The Steinwaerder brings a total of 212 passengers, there being on board 48 married males, 48 married females. 31 single men, 3 single females, 38 male children, from 1 to 12 years; 20 female children, from 1 to 12 years; 7 male children under 1 year old, and five female children under 1 year old. 12 who pay their own passages and 3 stowaways.
