The ROMAN EMPIRE departed London on 22 October, 1881 and arrived in Auckland on 19 January, 1882, with Captain John Adamson in command.

 ROMAN EMPIRE FROM LONDON SIGNALLED.

The ship Roman Empire, Capt. John Adamson, which left London on October 22, was signalled inside Tiri as we went to press. Having a quantity of explosive materials included in her cargo, she will have to drop anchor at the powder ground, which will probably be reached late this evening. She has the following passengers for this port.
