RIMUTAKA

The RIMUTAKA departed London on 31 March 1892 and arrived in Wellington, via Plymouth, Teneriffe, Capetown and Hobart, on 18 May 1892. Captain E A Findlay was in command.

ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. RIMUTAKA.

The s.s Rimutaka, Captain E. A. Findlay, left Plymouth at 6.20 pm on 2nd April, having on board 79 passengers, viz., 12 saloon, 22 second saloon, and 45 steerage, 13 bags mails, and a full general cargo. Reached Teneriffe at 6.15 pm on the 7th April, landed seven passengers and mails, and after having coaled and taken on board one passenger and three bags of mails proceeded on her voyage to Capetown, arriving there 7.30pm on the 23rd, the passage from Teneriffe to Capetown being exceptionally fine. After landing four passengers and mails and embarking seven saloon passengers and seven bags of mails she left for Hobart at 10.35 am on 24th, reaching there on 13th May. Landed 30 passengers for Australian ports and discharged 200 tons of cargo, embarking one passenger, five bags of mails, and took in a quantity of coal, leaving at 6.20 pm same day, arriving here at 2.20 this morning. With the exception of two days after leaving Capetown, the voyage has been of the most pleasant description. Following is a list of her passengers:—

Steerage — Misses Camber, Green, Lee and McAteer,

Mr. and Mrs. Whittaker and child,

Mrs. Green,

Messrs Barnham, Green, Heisse, Lether, McAteer, Twig, Maleham, Routledge and Sewell.

For other ports:

Saloon — Misses Groghan, Vaughan and Gardiner,

Mesdames Groghan and Hyde;

Second saloon— Mr. and Mrs. Weston,

Messrs Massey, Jell, Cowic, Andrew and Munro;
