ARRIVAL OF THE HERO.
The favourite and powerful steamer Hero, Captain T. Logan, arrived in harbour on Saturday night, after another splendid passage from Sydney of five days. She brings a very heavy cargo, and over 70 passengers. She is also the bearer of the English mail via Suez. We have again to acknowledge our indebtedness to Mr. Cogswell, purser, for our files and other favours.
The Hero left Sydney and cleared the heads at 6 p.m. on the 4th instant, passed the North Cape at 6.15 a.m. on the 9th, and arrived in Auckland harbour at 11.45 p.m. same day. On the passage across the Hero experienced moderate south-east and easterly winds, until the evening of the 7th; and since then moderato north-east and northerly winds until arrival in port, fine weather having prevailed throughout.
