The CITY OF CARLISLE departed London 23 February, 1881 and arrived in Wellington on 12 June, 1881. Captain Stocks was in command.

ARRIVAL OF THE CITY OF CARLISLE, FROM LONDON.

The barque City of Carlisle, Captain Stocks, from London, arrived in harbor early yesterday morning, having sailed in without a pilot. She left London on the 23rd February, and crossed the Equator on the 28th March, up to which time moderate weather was experienced. On the 17th April had a stiff W.S.W. gale but no damage was done. Passed the Cape on the 25th April, and made Tasmania on the 20th May; from that date until sighting Stewart Island on Monday last, had to conte(n)d against a succession of bad weather; after passing Oamaru fell in with a southerly breeze, which brought her into port as stated above. The passage was an uneventful one. She brings 20 passengers who have arrived in good health. Messrs W. & G. Turnbull & Co. are agents for the barque.
