The ATHENIC departed London on 14 October, 1909 and arrived in Wellington on 30 November, 1909, via Plymouth, Capetown and Hobart, with Captain Charles H Kempson in command.

THE ATHENIC'S PASSENGERS.
When the Shaw-Savill liner Athenic sailed from Plymouth for Wellington on the 17th October, she had on board no fewer than 669 passengers booked for various destinations in New Zealand. Of this large total, 53 are travelling in the first saloon, 100 (probably a record for vessels of her class) in the second saloon, and 516 in the third-class. Following is the list:-

The Athenic is expected to reach Hobart to-day, and would then be due at Wellington on Monday or Tuesday morning next.
